Mokokchung, August 29 (MTNews): The Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) held its annual general body meeting (AGBM) at its Multi Utility Hall, Chandmari Kohima on August 28, 2022.

 

 

The special invitees were Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) President Nobin Pradhan and General Secretary Prem Kumar Thapa, who urged the Gorkhas to be unified and supportive of one another.

 

The group deliberated on a number of important issues concerning the welfare of the Kohima district community.

 

Gayatri Devi, GPPK Advisor and Former President, and Bhim Rai, a prominent member of the community, spoke on “Social Reform in the Present Context for the Progress of the Gorkha Community” and “Issues confronting the Gorkha Community – Remedial Measures,” respectively.

 

Gaon Burah Kamal Bahadur Chetri also encouraged the gathering, and GPPK felicitated four individuals for their selfless service to the community: Dev Bahadur Mahatra, Ashok Singh, Prem Pradhan, and Romit Rana.

 

The AGBM was chaired by GPPK vice president Prabhu Gurung, with GPPK General Secretary Suresh Kumar Lama presenting the secretarial report and Welfare Secretary Mohan Gurung highlighting the treasurer’s audit report.

 

In the second session, Convenor of Election/Selection Committee Ranjeet Lama revealed the new team of GPPK office bearers for the tenure 2022-25, led by incumbent President Santu Thapa and General Secretary Suresh Kumar Lama. Meghraj Lama, a member of the Election/Selection Committee, tendered the vote of thanks.
