Rai urged attendees to practise mutual respect and preserve their language. Addressing the students, he encouraged academic achievers to remain consistent and work even harder.
Guest of Honour John Thakuri stated that historical records indicate the Gorkhas have been in India for over 200 years. He emphasized that the community, recognised by the Government of India for its contributions, should not be ashamed of its identity. He noted that Nepali is a recognised Indian language and should be a source of pride. Thakuri encouraged attendees to be visionary leaders and urged boys, in particular, to match the academic achievements of their female peers. He also called on the youth to actively contribute to society and the community’s growth.
The programme included an opening song, welcome address, poem recitation, student felicitation, prize distribution, and guest speeches. Dr. Francis Rai, GSUM General Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
