Mokokchung, 16 July (MTNews): In a bid to promote health awareness and provide much-needed medical support to the Gorkha community, the Gorkha Union Mokokchung organized a free medical camp at the Gorkha Community Hall in Mokokchung on Sunday. The event aimed to sensitize individuals about health issues and provide access to free treatment and medication for those in need.

The medical camp was supervised by Dr Abigail Rai, MBBS & PGD Cosmetology and Aesthetic. Dr Rai serves as the Medical Officer at Impur Mission Hospital.

 

The five-member committee responsible for organizing the medical camp consisted of Peter Aley as the Convenor, Prashant Thapa as the Co-convenor, and Naresh Rai, Kapit Rai, and Siraj Subba as committee members. Speaking about the event, Convenor Peter Aley highlighted the objective of the camp, which was to raise awareness about health and healthcare among the Gorkha community.

 

Aley further emphasized that the Gorkha community often lacks such opportunities for exclusive healthcare provisions, which is why this medical camp was specifically organized for them. The event aimed to enable individuals and families to access free treatment and medication, ensuring that they receive the healthcare support they require.

 

Generous contributions from Dr & Mrs Hemant Rai, parents of Dr Abigail Rai, enabled the provision of free medicines to the patients attending the camp.

 

During the medical camp, a wide range of services were provided to the patients. This included free general checkups, specialized skin consultations, Hepatitis and HIV tests, as well as blood pressure monitoring. The medical team from Impur Mission Hospital, including nurses and technicians, assisted Dr Abigail Rai in conducting the camp and delivering quality healthcare services.

 

In total, the medical camp successfully treated and provided free medicines to 50 patients from the Gorkha community.
