Minority Affairs Directorate seeks land verification and NOCs from DC Office

DC Mokokchung issues NOC request to Imkongmeren Sports Complex landowner

The Government of Nagaland has initiated groundwork for eight major developmental projects in Mokokchung district under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) 2025–26, with the Directorate of Minority Affairs calling on the Deputy Commissioner to verify land availability and issue Non-Encumbrance Certificates (NEC) at the earliest.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner,  Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, Director of Minority Affairs, stated that proposals for funding have been received under the centrally sponsored scheme, and clearance from the district administration is required for the following projects:

· Football ground – Mokokchung Town
· 200-bedded hostel – Fazl Ali College
· Conference Hall-cum-Library – Chuchuyimpang
· Playground with rostrum & gallery – Mangmetong
· Football stadium and related infrastructure – Tzüdikong
· Bamboo Resource Centre – Tuli
· Multi-utility hall (Sadbhav Mandap) – Mongsenyimti
· Multi-utility hall (Sadbhav Mandap) – Longkhum

In connection with this, the DC’s office had earlier, on May 30, issued a formal communication to the landowner of Imkongmeren Sports Complex, requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the proposed football ground in Mokokchung town. The letter follows a directive from the Directorate of Minority Affairs, Kohima, concerning sanctioned projects under the 2023–24 PMJVK cycle.

MT has accessed a copy of this letter, but does not have access to the complete list of proposed projects or the original correspondence from the Directorate of Minority Affairs.

While the proposal reflects the Centre’s continued investment in underdeveloped areas, successful implementation hinges on timely land verification and documentation at the district level.

PMJVK, a flagship program under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, targets infrastructure gaps in minority-dominated districts, with a focus on inclusive growth and community facilities.
