The four-day ultimatum issued to the State Government of Nagaland concerning the issuance of the work order for the 2-lane Foothills Road construction has been withdrawn with immediate effect. The withdrawal follows the assurance from the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD), Road & Bridges, which confirmed that it has already complied with the committee’s plea. This was informed by the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC).
It may be recalled that the committee’s decision to issue the ultimatum came after an emergency consultative meeting held on December 2, 2024, in Dimapur. During that meeting, the NFHRCC had resolved that the State Government and the concerned department must issue the work order for the project within four days. The committee had also warned that if the deadline was not met, all participants from the 12 tribes would pull out from the Hornbill Festival.
Additionally, the NFHRCC has announced an emergency meeting to be held on December 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at its base office in Kher Mahal, Dimapur.
The NFHRCC described the meeting as “extremely necessary” to address critical issues concerning the issuance of the work order for the long-awaited Foothills Road construction project. All committee members have been urged to attend the meeting without fail.
