The much-awaited meetings between the Centre, the NSCN-IM, and the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) took place today in New Delhi. According to sources, the GoI held the meetings separately with the NSCN-IM and the NNPGs with the Centre ‘keen’ on resolving the Naga political issue.

 

Reportedly, the Centre invited the two political groups to work towards finding a final solution to the long-standing Naga political issue, and to deescalate the situation in Manipur as a neutral entity. However, according to sources, the agenda of the centre was made unknown to the political groups although they viewed that “Naturally government of India would like to see change in the Manipur situation.”

 

“But we are being cautious given the sensitivity of the conflicts,” sources added.

 

While acknowledging the public’s concern about the ongoing Naga political talks, the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of the Working Committee, NNPG stated that it “doesn’t have much to say” about the meeting conducted in Delhi today, but assured to keep the public updated if any further developments occurred. Meanwhile, the NSCN-IM MIP said that something about the talk “will be made known tomorrow.”
