“I do not have the work order with me, but I have been told that it has been sanctioned,” Chairman Zumvü conveyed to Mokokchung Times. He went on to express his satisfaction in learning that the government has granted approval for the road repair project, and he indicated that the work is set to commence once the rainy season ends.

This announcement is made in the backdrop of the Project Constitutional Justice (PCJ) drawing attention to the dire state of Sovima Road. The PCJ, with its focus on advocating for infrastructural improvements and justice within communities, has emphatically underscored the urgent need to rehabilitate the road due to its current lamentable and unsafe condition.

Regarding this matter, Chairman Zumvü pointed out that this concern has persisted for quite some time. He highlighted that the Sovima Village Council took proactive measures last year by writing a letter to the Chief Minister, wherein the council assured that it would facilitate the road widening process without encountering any hindrance from private property owners.

“The Sovima Village Council has even assured the Chief Minister that we would facilitate the road widening process without causing any obstructions from private owners,” he remarked, adding that the village council had even informed the residents of Sovima Village that they would personally remove any barriers, including walls, if deemed necessary, to widen the road.

Chairman Zumvü also noted that Sovima Village has undertaken all necessary measures to ensure there are no obstacles hindering development, such as attaining a ‘tax-free’ status from underground organizations. “We strongly stand by ‘One tax, one government.’ It is for the people,” he asserted.

He further highlighted that a collaborative initiative has been made between the residents of Sovima Village and Unity Village to expedite the road repair project. Moreover, Chairman Zumvü emphasized that the road’s significance extends beyond its immediate vicinity stating that the road is indispensable for both Sovima village and Unity Village.

Meanwhile, the Thilixu to Toulazouma road, commonly referred to as Half Nagarjan junction road, was another road that was highlighted by the PCJ. However, Vitoho, the Chairman of Thilixu Village, while talking to Mokokchung Times, stated that he is yet to receive any confirmation or news regarding the sanctioning of the work order.

Nevertheless, he expressed his intent to clarify the matter with the executive engineer as soon as possible. Chairman Vitoho also concurred that the Thilixu to Toulazouma road issue has persisted for a while and mentioned that they have also written a letter to the Chief Minister in the past. He stressed that the road serves as a crucial route for students and is also considered the lifeline of Doyapur and Dhansiripar.
