Yadav made the call during a meeting with district officers and civil society representatives at the DC’s Conference Hall on Wednesday, where he stressed the need for officials to regularly visit the field, interact with people and understand their difficulties.

Governor calls for field monitoring, better basic services in Tseminyu
Nagaland Governor, Nand Kishor Yadav, addressing during his visit to Tseminyu District at DC’s Conference Hall, Tseminyu on September 30.

He said Tseminyu may be a young district administratively, but it is not a young society, describing it as the homeland of the Rengma Nagas with a rich history, distinctive cultural traditions and strong community institutions.

The Governor urged officials to monitor flagship schemes, infrastructure projects and welfare programmes through regular field inspections, using technology and digital systems wherever possible. He also highlighted the district’s potential in agriculture, horticulture, livestock, poultry and other allied sectors.

He called for identification of locally suitable products, formation of producer and self-help groups, support for processing and packaging, and better market linkages within and outside Nagaland. Education and healthcare, he said, should remain priorities, with primary healthcare institutions functioning effectively and essential services reaching remote areas.

Yadav also stressed the importance of electricity, drinking water, roads and digital connectivity, while calling for improved infrastructure to promote tourism through cultural experiences and community initiatives.

Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch said Tseminyu, created as a district on February 24, 2022, continues to face shortages of officers, hospital facilities and colleges. He also highlighted the district’s declaration as a Piggery District and the need for roads, infrastructure and digital connectivity.

Rengma Hoho president Gwasinlo Thong appealed for job reservation for the Rengma community and highlighted the difficulties faced by students who have to leave the district for higher education due to the absence of a college.

MLA and DPDB chairman Ar. Jwenga Seb delivered the welcome address. The programme was chaired by EAC Tseminyu Molosangla Ozukum and concluded with departmental presentations by KVK, Land Resources, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti.
