Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited the Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) and Drone Centre of Excellence under the Planning & Transformation Department in Kohima on September 7.
The Governor was briefed on the State’s adoption of drone technology for mapping, surveying and geospatial data acquisition, as well as the Centre’s focus on training, research and development. The Centre offers DGCA-compliant remote pilot courses and specialised training in FPV operations, drone repair, GIS surveying, cinematography and avionics.
Under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission, 70 candidates have been selected for drone-related training, while 72 trainees have completed courses so far.
Yadav highlighted applications of drones in agriculture, infrastructure, disaster management, environmental monitoring and geospatial mapping, stressing the need to prepare youth for emerging employment opportunities.
He expressed appreciation for the Centre’s initiatives and assured his support. Development Commissioner Y. Kikheto Sema and departmental officials were also present.
