Kohima, 4 November (MTNews): Governor La Ganesan, alongside Chief Minister Neiphiü Rio, inaugurated a Multi-Level Car Parking facility in Kohima, today. The Governor expressed his happiness about this new addition under the Smart City initiative, addressing the city’s longstanding traffic and parking challenges.
He urged citizens to play a role in shaping Kohima’s future and to support government agencies in development projects. Governor La Ganesan praised the state government’s commitment and thanked them for serving the people.
Chief Minister Neiphiü Rio acknowledged the inauguration of two Multi-Level Parking facilities, expressing gratitude to the Government of India for their support. He also commended Governor La Ganesan for his constant help and thanked all those involved in these successful projects.
About Multi Level Car Parking in PR Hill
The Multi-level Car Parking facility spans a generous total floor area of around 140,000 square feet, featuring a layout of five floors (G + 5). Among its amenities are 62 dedicated rooms for shops, with six situated on the ground floor, and an additional 28 on both the fourth and fifth floors.
The first through third floors of the complex are exclusively designated for car parking, with a capacity to accommodate approximately 180 vehicles. These levels have been equipped with essential conveniences, including public restrooms, CCTV surveillance, lift access, and a top-floor food court. To ensure durability and functionality, Epoxy car deck flooring has been installed on all levels. The construction of this modern facility was successfully concluded in July 2023.
CEO Er K Theuno of Kohima Smart City Development Ltd shared these details during the inauguration, underscoring that the construction of the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility marks the realization of a long-awaited aspiration to introduce state-of-the-art parking solutions to Kohima, the state capital. The primary objective of the MLCP is to alleviate traffic congestion significantly, facilitating a more orderly and efficient traffic flow within the city. Moreover, it is anticipated to enhance parking availability in limited urban spaces, offering substantial benefits to urban areas, businesses, and events.
