Kohima, 2 December (MTNews): Governor La Ganesan urged the people of Nagaland and Assam today to rekindle their pledge towards peace, harmony, and prosperity. While addressing the Assam State Foundation Day program at Raj Bhavan Kohima, the Governor stated that both states share the same dream of a peaceful region where everyone respects and cherishes their differences. Therefore, he called upon everyone to cement the age-old friendship with newfound vigor and make a promise to safeguard shared values, ensuring that the spirits of unity, tolerance, and acceptance continue to thrive.

Nagaland Governor Assam

Advisor of Sahitya Sabha, Kohima, Dr HN Dutta, who spoke on behalf of the Assamese people residing in Nagaland, mentioned that Assam Foundation Day is celebrated to commemorate the advent of the first Ahom Kingdom in Assam. He narrated the history of Chief Sukapha and his contribution to the peace between Assam and its neighboring states, maintaining a good relationship between Assam and Nagaland. He also stated that both neighboring states are working to strengthen the age-old strong relationship.

At the outset, he thanked the Governor for organizing the program at Raj Bhavan. He also handed over two books titled ‘History, Art and Archaeology of Doyang–Dhansari Valley, Assam’ and ‘Eastern Himalayan Domestic Architecture,’ which were published and edited by him and Imotemsu Ao.
