The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, visited Noklak on November 16, 2024, and addressed a gathering at the Tourist Lodge. He expressed his pleasure in visiting the district and reiterated his commitment to engaging with the people across all districts of Nagaland.

In his speech, the Governor noted that Noklak, which became a district on December 21, 2017, is still in the process of development. However, he expressed optimism about its growth and the potential to match other districts in infrastructure and progress. Focusing on healthcare, Ganesan emphasized the importance of improving the sector in Noklak and encouraged the implementation of health schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. He also mentioned the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to eradicate tuberculosis by 2025, and called for greater awareness and action from the District Health Authority.
Acknowledging the district’s challenging terrain, Ganesan praised the progress in road construction by PWD and NHIDCL, assuring that border areas would soon be well-connected. He also highlighted the role of education in societal development and urged educators, parents, and community leaders to ensure every child has access to quality education.
Addressing the issue of drug abuse, particularly among youth, he urged civil societies and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to control drug trafficking, especially in border areas like Noklak.
The Governor emphasized the need for collaboration between local communities, civil societies, and the government to address challenges and build a sustainable future. He assured his full support for Noklak’s development and unity among its people.
During the event, representatives from various departments, including health, education, PWD, and agriculture, presented updates, and members from the Khiamniungan Tribal Council also spoke. The Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, Arikumba, delivered the welcome address. Later, the Governor held a security coordination meeting with personnel.
