Kohima, August 25 (MTNews): Governor of Nagaland & Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on 24th August visited Doyang, where he called on the staff and students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) NEEPCO, Doyang and held an interaction with the students.

 

A civic reception was held at Doyang helipad in the presence of Advisor, Mhathung Yanthan; Deputy Commissioner & Superintendent of Police, Wokha; General Manager- NEEPCO Doyang; SDO (C) Sanis and other officials.

 

The Governor visited Doyang view point and DHEP Dam Causeway followed by the Guard of Honour by DEF Wokha. He mentioned in his note that he is astonished by the natural beauty of Doyang and proposed Doyang for wide tourism attraction.

He had short interaction with NEEPCO officials and a meeting was held with the General Manager, Project Head NEEPCO and CISF. Another meeting was also held with NGOs, Village Council Chairmen, GBs, Fishery Union and Land Owners Union Doyang.

 

Later the Governor had an interaction with the Head of Offices of Wokha district at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha, to review the centrally sponsored schemes under Wokha district. DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS who chaired the meeting highlighted about the brief overview of the district, physical features & boundaries, demography, economic profile, Government health facilities-health profile, banking facilities and some success stories like Amur Falcon, the successful conservation story which has been known worldwide, rubber cultivation and growing of organic coffee which is not only sold locally but exported even to South Africa and Arab countries.

 

Advisor for Law & Justice, Dr Chumben Murry expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Wokha district for his auspicious visit and apprised the Governor about the schemes and projects implemented in the district as well as the benefits and development experienced by the people of the district through various schemes. Dr. Murry also apprised the Governor regarding equitable distribution of funds for implementation of different projects/works at par with other districts.

 

During the meeting with the head of offices, the Governor enquired about the status of number of villages and households left-out/ not covered with electricity, and reminded the concerned department to ensure that no village or household should be left out without electricity.

 

Executive Engineer, PHED, Wokha, informed the Governor, that under toilet facilities for all in rural areas, so far 80% of work has been completed/ covered while the remaining work is in progress. On the work position under JJM which commenced in 2019, the EE informed that so far, 47 projects in different villages are completed covering about 8,999 Functional household tap connections (FHTC) and the remaining are in progress.

 

The Governor also stated that to increase and double the income of farmers, various schemes and programs are introduced and asked the concerned departments to ensure that soil cards are provided to all farmers, seeds should be provided on time, manure & pesticides should be timely provided and also help the farmers in their marketing produce and in doing so production will increase. The Governor further reminded the Deputy Commissioner to monitor monthly and pursue vigorously the projects, also evaluate the work progress, regular meeting concerning the responsible flagships programs to ensure that projects and works are implemented as per the specification.

 

Project Director, DRDA Wokha stressing on the Rural Housing apprised that 374 households have benefited under the project where 271 are under progress and 103 under waiting list.
Prof. Mukhi also mentioned that for educated youths willing to take up farming, the Government is willing to help in terms of providing modern technologies, machineries and equipment where he urged the educated youths to come forward and take up the agriculture sector to become self-reliant.

 

The Governor also assured of setting up two Sub-Divisional Agricultural offices at Sanis and Ralan. In regard to delay in sanctioning and disbursement of loan, especially SEP-I under DUDA by the Banks, he assured to take up the matter on priority.

 

The Governor also held a meeting with the Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho and other stakeholders in the district.
