The Governor’s Awards for various toppers, rank holders, and achievers of the HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2024 were held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima on 12th June 2024.

A total of 62 student toppers, rank holders, and achievers received the Governor’s Award for the HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2024 in different categories. The awards include the Governor’s Award to HSLC and HSSLC toppers, the Governor’s Award for achievers in MILs and Skill Education subjects, Government Schools Students, Eastern Nagaland Students, the Governor’s Excellence Award for Science Study (HSSLC), and the NBSE awards to HSLC and HSSLC toppers.

Governor La Ganesan congratulated all the toppers, rank holders, and achievers for their outstanding achievements in the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC results. He also credited the teachers, families, and friends for their unconditional and unwavering support throughout the students’ journey. La Ganesan said the government has been playing an active role and introducing policies and regulations to improve the education system in India. He noted that the National Education Policy, 2020 is one such policy, founded on the five guiding pillars of access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability. He believed that globalization has led to improvements in the quality of education in India and expressed happiness to see the students receiving quality and skill-based education. He said India is already the fastest-growing economy in the world and there are many opportunities for growth not only in Nagaland but also across India.

The Governor emphasized that today’s students are fortunate to have good facilities and infrastructure and are provided with quality education by trained and experienced teachers. On the occasion, the Governor also announced the enhancement of the cash award for the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC from next year.

Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, speaking at the program, congratulated the successful students and urged them to work harder as the world is open to them and they can achieve even greater heights. He thanked the office of the Governor for initiating and organizing the program to encourage the students of the State. He encouraged the students to appreciate all the good things in life and strive towards excellence, as they will be the future leaders who are going to lead the State and its people. He wished all the students the very best in their future endeavors.

EAC Mokokchung, Alemyim Isaac Solo, also gave a brief inspirational talk to the students in which she expressed that inspiration is something that makes ideas evolve into actions and success. She further urged the students to find inspiration in the everyday things around them and not to get demotivated by the challenges and difficulties they face in pursuit of their dreams. She spoke on the importance of mental health and how it affects and determines one’s success in life, and that one should not shy away from openly dealing with mental issues and seeking professional help if the need arises. She encouraged the students to cultivate good habits and not be afraid to move out of their comfort zones and try to have a positive impact on the lives of others.

The Chairperson of NBSE, Asano Sekhose, gave the introductory address, while the Commissioner & Secretary for School Education & SCERT, Kevileno Angami, pronounced the vote of thanks. Altogether, 62 students from HSLC and HSSLC were felicitated at the programme. The formal function was followed by a short interactive session wherein Governor La Ganesan interacted with the successful students.
