Nagaland Governor La Ganesan’s visit to Tamlu subdivision under Longleng district on March 25, 2025, underscored both the developmental aspirations and longstanding challenges faced by the region. A brief program was held at the Multi-Training Centre, Tamlu, where the Governor interacted with government officials, civil society organizations, and local representatives. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) T Lankonsen Tsanglao chaired the event and presented an overview of the subdivision.

Governor La Ganesan, in his address, expressed his commitment to strengthening the link between governance and community aspirations. He emphasized two key objectives of his visit: To assess the developmental initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure to ensure they align with the needs of the people and; To listen to the concerns of the community, understand their challenges, and incorporate their aspirations into policy-making.
“My mission here is simple—to listen, learn, and collaborate. Development is a collective effort, and I am here to strengthen the bonds between the government, civil society, and every citizen,” he stated.
The Governor acknowledged the challenges in road connectivity, healthcare, and agriculture, commending the efforts of local government departments despite resource constraints. He also recognized the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in advocating for justice, bridging gaps, and empowering communities.
“Progress thrives where there is synergy. Our governments both at the centre and at the state endeavor to bring infrastructure, healthcare and economic opportunities to all its citizens. But without the cooperation of civil Society these efforts remain incomplete” he remarked.
MLA B Bangtick Phom highlighted longstanding border disputes between Namsang villages and Assam’s Ahom community. He urged the Governor to intervene in the issue of encroachment and the Ladigarh village dispute to ensure lasting peace and security for the people. Additionally, he sought the revival of key infrastructure projects in the region.
Other speakers at the event included, President PPC YB Angam Phom; W Tingken Konyak, ‘K’ khel Tamlu Village; President Namsang Citizen Union Tongshauh and former President PPC, P Chingan Phom who shared their perspective on local issues.
Earlier in the day, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome at the Tamlu public ground and received a guard of honor at the ADC Office.
