The Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (DPAR) has issued a notification cautioning Government employees against engaging in private sector employment, stating that such actions are in violation of service conduct rules.

According to the department, it has come to notice that several Government employees are not only involved in private sector employment but are also publicly advertising their official designations and names in print and social media to promote their association with private enterprises.

Citing Section 15(1) of the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968, the department reiterated that no Government servant is allowed to engage in any trade, business, or private employment without prior approval from the Government. The rule explicitly prohibits the use of an official position to promote any private enterprise.

The department has warned that Government employees found violating these provisions—whether by direct involvement, indirect participation, or active promotion of private trade—will face disciplinary action as per the applicable rules.

The notification has been issued for strict compliance by all Government employees.
