The Nagaland government is planning to roll out a Nagaland Integrated Information System to strengthen data collection, coordination and public access to verified information, Commissioner & Secretary for Information & Public Relations and Cooperation, Orenthung Lotha, announced on Monday.
Lotha made the statement while inaugurating the newly constructed IPR Office building at Tseminyu on February 23, describing the district as one of the emerging administrative centres positioned to benefit from improved infrastructure and digital coordination.
Under the proposed system, Tseminyu will function as one of the information hubs, with data to be compiled from various departments under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner and district administration. The initiative aims to improve accessibility to accurate and verified government information.
Highlighting the importance of the upcoming census, Lotha appealed to citizens to provide truthful and accurate data, stating that census figures form the foundation of policy-making and development planning. He cautioned that inaccurate data could deprive sections of the population of rightful benefits.
Emphasising the department’s responsibility in the era of rapid social media dissemination, he said the government must ensure that information shared through print, electronic and digital platforms is responsive, factual and constructive.
Describing the new IPR office building as a key addition to district-level infrastructure, Lotha acknowledged the support of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and former Advisor IPR Late Imkong L Imchen in facilitating the project.
Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu, Japhet Woch, NCS, said the building was completed in record time and forms part of a series of infrastructure initiatives undertaken since the formation of the district, including the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and SP Office. He urged departments to function proactively and prioritise accurate data generation to support effective governance.
The inauguration was attended by Director, Information & Public Relations, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, senior departmental officers, and district officials.
