Kohima, 27 June (MTNews): The graduation ceremony for a batch of skilled tailoring trainees and the induction of a new batch were held at the conference hall of the Directorate of Technical Education. The event took place on 26 June with Temjenmenba, Advisor to the Chief Minister for the Transportation & Technical Education Department, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Advisor Temjenmenba expressed his gratitude to JK Trust and all the stakeholders involved for providing a platform to the Naga youth for employment opportunities. He acknowledged their partnership with the department in organizing the training program and facilitating job placements for the trainees who successfully completed the course.
The Advisor also stated that they are on an important mission as their role is not only to earn their livelihood there but also to prove that Naga boys and girls are equally compatible with the rest of the country.
“When you perform well, you are paving the way for other trainees to come and work. You have to be really careful because you are not only for yourself but you are paving and opening up the way for your friends to come and join you for more employment and other companies will also recognize your efforts,” the Advisor added.
Addressing the new batch of trainees, the Advisor emphasized the significance of their training and stated that their performance, discipline, and dedication would play a crucial role in their future endeavors outside the state of Nagaland. He encouraged them to embrace the new environment and make the most of their experience.
The tailoring training program is a joint initiative involving the Government of Nagaland, NABARD, Silver Spark, and JK Trust. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the graduating students.
Nagaland’s Technical Education Department collaborates with CSIR-NEIST for policy development and expert guidance
It may be noted that earlier on 23 June, the Advisor led a delegation from the Technical Education Department of Nagaland for a comprehensive meeting with Dr G Narahari Sastry, Director of CSIR-NEIST (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-North East Institute of Science and Technology), along with prominent scientists and scholars from the institute in Jorhat, Assam.
Er Vipulhou Lhoungu, Director of Technical Education, Nagaland, briefed the attendees about the current status of the department and expressed the department’s desire to seek expertise and guidance from CSIR-NEIST in shaping policies related to curriculum development, internships, and the establishment of an incubation hub.
Dr Sastry, the Director of CSIR-NEIST, assured the delegation of his institute’s full support and assistance in the development of the Technical Education Department and the state as a whole. He emphasized the importance of adapting to the present scenario by incorporating the latest models and methods of learning that align with the available resources within the state.
Furthermore, Dr Sastry informed the attendees that a committee would be formed comprising scientists who would oversee the department’s required agendas and activities. This committee would facilitate and provide the necessary technical support to the department.
In addition to Temjenmenba and Er Vipulhou Lhoungu, the delegation from the TED included Tiakaba Amer, Additional Director, Er David Tsela, Jt Director, and Er Khrieketoulie Rupreo, Controller of Examinations, Technical Education.
