Mokokchung, November 24 (MTNews): Gram Panchayats are mandated for the preparation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) every year for economic and social justice. Toshimongla Kichu, Project Director, DRDA Mokokchung stated this while addressing a meeting cum one-day orientation program on People’s Plan Campaign – Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) with line departments at the conference hall of DC Office Mokokchung on Thursday.
The Project Director went on to say that the planning process needs to be comprehensive and based on participatory process involving full coverage with activities related to all centrally sponsored programs which necessitated the day’s orientation program. She also said that an effective strategy for preparing the GPDP in campaign mode – People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) is where all the line departments play a role.
She also announced in her keynote address that the campaign started from 2nd October 2022 which will go on till 31 January 2023 as “Sabki Yojana Sabki Vikas” (Everybody’s plan, Everyone’s Growth/Development). She also added that the main objective of the GPDP is to involve people in the planning process to ensure identification of the gaps as well as problems and address them at the grassroots level.
She further added that during the campaign, structured Gram Sabha meetings will be held for preparing the GPDP from the next financial year 2023-2024 with the active physical involvement of frontline workers/supervisors of all 29 sectors in XI Schedule through the integration of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the GPDP.
She also called upon the line departments for collective responsibility and to join hands to make the campaign a success. She also thanked the various line departments for attending the training and added that she looks forward to their cooperation and active participation to fulfill the objective of “Sabki Yojana Sabki Vikas.”
Meanwhile, Imyapangla, Deputy Director DRDA Mokokchung gave a PowerPoint presentation on PPC – GPDP. The program was chaired by Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung and was attended by a number of officials from various line departments. It may be mentioned here that DRDA is the nodal department for this campaign.
