Mokokchung, November 11 (MTNews):A series of trainings initiated under the project for creating clusters of Model Gram Panchayats was conducted in Longjang, Longpa, and Khanimu villages of the Kubolong block on November 5 and 6.The project aims to achieve Holistic & Sustainable Development through institutional strengthening of Gram Panchayats and Enablement of Quality Gram Panchayat Development Plan(GPDP) across India. The project is coordinated by the National Institute of Rural Development &Panchayati Raj (NIRD & PR), Ministry of Rural Panchayati Raj (MoPR).

 

 

The training focused on Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2023-2024 and the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)was conducted by R. Supongtula deployed in the block where she emphasized people’s participation in decision-making in order to bring holistic, quality, and sustainable development in the village.

 

She also talked on the process and the plan cycle of GPDP and also spoke on the nine thematic aspects of localizing SDGs and preparing thematic and quality GPDP. The training also included group activities for the villagers to have hands-on experience in preparing Gram Panchayat Development Plan.

 

The next phase of training will be conducted in the project GPs of Mopungchuket, Sungratsu, Chami, and Yimchalu villages in the coming week.
