Group D has emerged as the talking point following the draw for the 25th Dr T Ao Trophy Inter-District Football Championship held on Monday, with football followers already dubbing the four-team group the “Group of Death.”
Nuiland, Chümoukedima, Phek and Peren have been drawn together in Group D.
The other groups are also set, with Group A comprising Mon, Dimapur, Zunheboto, Noklak and Kiphire; Group B featuring Kohima, Tseminyu, Shamator and Longleng; and Group C consisting of Meluri, Tuensang, Wokha and hosts Mokokchung.
The championship, which marks the Silver Jubilee edition of the Dr T Ao Trophy, is scheduled from October 13 to 31 at the Renpo Lu Astro Turf, Ungma, Mokokchung.
The tournament is organised by the Nagaland Football Association under the aegis of the All India Football Federation, hosted by the Mokokchung District Football Association and supported by the Government of Nagaland.
With Group D already attracting attention after the draw, the focus now shifts to the teams as they prepare for the championship next month.
