Sovima, 22 November (MTNews): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that handlooms, handicrafts and traditional arts must be preserved for the future generations. Speaking at the inauguration of the Bamboo Based Crafts Concentration Centre at Heirloom Naga Centre, Sovima, Rio hoped that this facility will emerge as a centre of excellence and that many success stories will take seed from here.

He appealed to entrepreneurs to continue to pursue excellence and at the same time give their services to the people by mentoring entrepreneurs, artists and artisans and grassroots stakeholders in this sector.

The Chief Minister said the government is making capital investments through the Women Development Department, Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., and other stakeholders in the handloom sector. “At my level, I have conducted strategic consultative meetings & the concerned depts. are making follow-up strategies,” he added.

The Bamboo Based Crafts Concentration Centre is the first of its kind in Nagaland. Rio congratulated its owner Jesmina Zeliang and her son Aku Zeliang on reaching an important milestone in their entrepreneurship journey. The centre, Rio said, will pave the way for #MadeInNagaland to reach different corners of the world.
