Mokokchung, June 26 (MTNews): Under the initiative of the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung, Kohima Khar Fellowship in collaboration with Khar Baptist Church organized a Free Health Mela at Khar Village and a Dental Health camp was organized by National Oral Health Programme on the theme “Oral Health for Healthy Life” at Longmisa Village on the 25th of June 2022.

 

The Medical team led by Dr.R.Chubala Aier, Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung and Dr. Nungsangzulu Walling, Medical Officer, PHC Alongkima, provided services such as Dental, ENT, Eye, General medicine, Ayush and Orthopedic. Random blood sugar, haemoglobin and malaria tests, along with COVID vaccination were also done on the spot. IEC team from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung delivered health talks and gave out key information on health related topics.

 

A total of 276 beneficiaries availed the medical services provided at the Church premises, Khar village and 30 home visits were made for bedridden patients.

 

Dr. Temjentsungla, Director, Medical Education and her team from Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima also took part in the Health Mela.

 

At Longmisa village, Dental surgeons under Mokokchung district provided dental services such as consultation, free medicine, extraction and restoration. The Team of Dental surgeons led by Dr. Taliwaba Ao, Senior Dental Surgeon, IMDH Mokokchung, and assisted by Community Health Officer, Longmisa HWC and her staff treated 82 persons who availed the services provided. It included 36 cases of extraction and 40 cases of restoration.

 

Dr. Sentirenla Jamir, Junior Dental Surgeon, IMDH Mokokchung delivered a health talk based on the significance of the theme and IEC materials on ill effects of Tobacco were also distributed among the beneficiaries.

 

In both the camps, active participation of the Village council and the Church was seen, who assisted in all the needful logistics.
