The District Health Society, Peren, organized a Health Mela in Nkialwa and Lilen villages under Tening and Jalukie Blocks on March 18 and 25, 2025.
At the Mela, community members had access to free medicines and health services, including general check-ups, dental care, pediatric consultations, ophthalmic services, antenatal check-ups (ANCs), vaccinations, non-communicable disease (NCD) screenings, a mobile Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre (ICTC) for HIV counseling and testing, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with targeted groups such as pregnant women, lactating mothers, and eligible couples/youths.
The community was also educated on household hygiene and communicable diseases. FGDs and one-on-one sessions were conducted on child health, maternal health, and family planning.
Health services and medicines were provided free of cost to all patients. The camp administered care to 239 patients, treating various ailments, including the common cold and other prevalent diseases. The following medical services were conducted: 21 MP tests, 50 HIV tests, 16 blood grouping tests, 7 hemoglobin (Hb%) tests, 101 blood pressure (BP) checks, 101 random blood sugar (RBS) tests, 15 hepatitis screenings, 21 venereal disease research laboratory (VDRL) tests, 33 tuberculosis (TB) screenings, 10 antenatal check-ups (ANCs) and 15 dental cases
Additionally, 10 Copper-T insertions were performed, 19 PMJAY/CMHIS cards were created and issued., 93 eye cases were screened, Nutritional packages were distributed to pregnant and lactating mothers.
Pamphlets and leaflets were distributed free of charge.
The team of medical personnel was led by Dr K Limatula Ao (CMO), Dr Lanuakum Aier (Deputy CMO), Dr Keholi (DTO), Dr Valentina Neikha (DPO – RCH & UIP), Dr Hedungkiebe (SMO, DH), Dr Meningsiliu Rentta (Obs & Gynea, DH Peren), Dr Gloria (Dental, Jalukie CHC), along with DPM, BPM, ASHA Coordinator, IEC Bureau, CHOs, nurses, lab technicians, an ophthalmic assistant, and supporting staff from NVBDCP, NTEP, and DAPCU.
