The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, has in a notification informed that the restriction on the movement of heavy vehicles on National Highway 702D, the stretch connecting Mokokchung and Mariani, has been lifted with immediate effect.

The announcement follows technical clearance from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) 103 RCC (GREF), which confirmed the completion of repair works and deemed the road suitable for heavy vehicle movement.

The decision also takes into account communications from the Office of the Border Magistrate, Tzurangkong.

Accordingly, heavy vehicles with a maximum of 12 wheels will now be permitted to ply the NH-702D stretch until further notice.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the order is for strict compliance by all concerned.

The lifting of the restriction is expected to facilitate smoother movement of goods and enhance connectivity between Mokokchung and Mariani, benefiting both commercial transport and local commuters.

The original restriction had been imposed earlier to ensure safety while repair works were underway on the highway. NH-702D is the busiest highway in Nagaland after NH-29 and serves as the lifeline for Mokokchung and several neighboring districts.
