The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, has issued a directive instructing all principals of government colleges to ensure that both faculty and students refrain from participating in any form of agitation concerning the absorption of Assistant Professors.

The order, dated April 19, 2025, and issued by V. Lovitoly Sema, Ex-Officio Director of Higher Education, stated that the directive was issued under instructions from the Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education and Tourism.

The department informed that the state government intends to deliberate with stakeholders in order to address and resolve the issue. “This is for strict compliance by all the concerned,” the notification added.

The development comes amid rising concerns over the regularisation and absorption of contractual Assistant Professors in government colleges across the state where a face-off between the government colleges and students were expected on April 21.
