Mokokchung, April 8 (MTNews): The Union Home Minister Amit Shah while presiding over the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee in New Delhi on April 7 said that 22 thousand Hindi teachers have been recruited in the eight states of the North East. Furthermore, all the north-eastern states have agreed to make Hindi mandatory in schools up to Class 10, he said, according to MHA.

He described Hindi as “the language of India” and said that it should be used by citizens from different states to communicate with each other. Hindi should be accepted as an alternative to English, and not to local languages, he said, according to a press release by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
