Mokokchung, June 13 (MTNews): With no arrests being made even after the lapse of two weeks since the tragic hit-and-run incident that happened on May 26 in Chumoukedima, in which a native of Ungma village and a student of St. Joseph University succumbed to her injuries, the Ungma Senso Mungdang have raised voice questioning the credibility of the investigating agency.

“Despite the fact that the tragedy occurred weeks ago, the police have yet to provide any leads in the investigation. The Ungma Senso Mongdang, therefore, questions the law enforcement agencies’ ability and diligence,” the apex social organization of Ungma village said in a statement issued on Monday. The Ungma Senso Mungdang further demanded that the perpetrator be arrested as soon as possible; “otherwise, the Senso will take its own course of action,” the apex body added.

Meanwhile, the Ungma Senso Mongdang has appreciated the various organizations, especially the various student organizations, for their condolences and solidarity rendered towards the aggrieved family. “The Ungma Senso appreciates the outpouring of support during these trying times and hopes to continue working together until justice is served,” it added.

“Late Ms. Mapuienla Longkumer, a bona fide citizen of Ungma village, was murdered because of the cowardly act of a reckless driver who hit her and ran over her and fled the scene without having any remorse to the human soul. The Ungma Senso Mongdang had faith that the law enforcement officials would do everything possible to apprehend the perpetrator and deliver justice to the bereaved family,” president of Ungma Senso Mungdang, I. Tiajungba Longkumer Tatar and general secretary Senmoaba Imsong said in a press statement.
