Bring the perpetrator to book: NSF, OKM, SST
The victim of the Dimapur hit-and-run case, who was hit and run over by an unidentified driver on Wednesday, succumbed to her injuries Thursday at CIHSR at around 00:30 AM. Her mortal remains were brought to her native village Ungma and was laid to rest there.
Meanwhile, while conveying condolences to the bereaved family, the St. Joseph University, where she was studying, observed a day of mourning even as the university authority declared the day as holiday.
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has condoled the tragic demise of (Lt) Mapuienla, a BA (Hons) student of St. Joseph University, Dimapur whose budding life was cut short by the murderous and reckless driving of a yet unidentified driver in Dimapur. “The Federation is lost for words to express our sorrow for the life of such a promising student nipped in the bud. It is our prayer that her near and dear ones will find solace in the presence of our Almighty God and that the dear departed soul will rest in eternal peace,” the NSF condolence read.
While vehemently condemning the unfortunate incident, the NSF also appealed to the authorities concerned to expedite the process of identifying the perpetrator of the heinous crime and ensure that the individual is brought to book at the earliest.
“The Federation is perturbed at the alarming rise of hit and run cases in the state of Nagaland leading to the loss of innumerable lives while also rendering multiple others immobile. This calls for a more stringent implementation of the traffic regulations by the law enforcement agencies and also the overhauling of the gadgets being used for the same. More so, the common people need to be more self-aware and responsible so that our recklessness does not result in such incidents again,” NSF further said.
