Dr Murakami spoke about the cultural and linguistic homology between the North-Eastern people groups and the Japanese, drawing inferences from traditional dances, food habits, and ways of life. He also recalled how the Battle of Kohima halted the movement of Japanese forces during the Second World War, bringing the distant nation closer in the collective imagination.

The lecture was followed by a Q&A, enriching the students’ understanding of both historical and modern ties with the island nation, sparking their curiosity to further explore academic opportunities.
