State puts three-tier security in place for Hornbill Festival

Additional Director General of Police (Administration) and the Director General (Prisons), Renchamo Kikon said that all necessary security measures have been taken to ensure a safe and incident-free Hornbill celebration. He said a three-tier security arrangement has been put in place for the upcoming 10-day Hornbill festival which commences on Monday. Kikon said no armed personnel except VVIP bodyguards with concealed small arms will be allowed inside the main arena.

NST to operate shuttle service for Hornbill Festival

The Nagaland State Transport (NST) Department will operate special shuttle services between Kohima and Kisama during the Hornbill Festival from December 1 to 10, 2025.

Apfeü Sanchu, Assistant General Manager, NST Kohima, informed that buses will run daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM to facilitate transportation for festival-goers.

Shuttle services will operate from PHQ Junction to Kisama at a fare of Rs 50 per passenger. Commuters boarding from ISBT can travel to Kisama at Rs 80 per passenger.

Rio invites former Chief Ministers to Hornbill Festival

Kohima, 29 November: The Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, conveyed his greetings to the former Chief Ministers, Dr. S.C. Jamir, K.L. Chishi and Dr. Shurhozelie on the occasion of Statehood Day. He also extended an invitation to them for the inaugural programme of the 26th Edition of Hornbill Festival to be held in Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, at 4 PM on 1st December 2025.

The invitation letter stated that the Hornbill Festival will be celebrated along with six countries as Partner Countries, namely France, Austria, Switzerland, UK, Malta and Ireland, and Arunachal Pradesh as Partner State. A reserved seat in the VVIP delegate area has been assigned and invited the former Chief Ministers to participate and witness the historic celebration.

Mon to host International Hornbill Festival 2025 From December 8–10

The Department of Art & Culture has informed that the International Hornbill Festival – Mon Edition 2025 will be held from December 8 to 10 at the Konyak Heritage Complex, Mon Headquarters.

The event is being organized by the Department of Underdeveloped Areas, Government of Nagaland.

For this edition, the Department of Art & Culture is preparing a cultural extravaganza under the theme ”Cultural Connect.” According to Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director, Art & Culture Department and Officer-in-Charge of the International Hornbill Festival – Mon Edition 2025, 15 cultural troupes will participate in this “historic event.”

Daily cultural shows will be presented by ten ranges of the Konyak tribe, accompanied by performances from the Ao, Phom, and Tenyimia communities based in Mon headquarters.

Mon district, Therie noted, is strategically significant as an international border district while also sharing boundaries with Assam and Arunachal Pradesh within India. As the “Land of the Angh,” the district is expected to attract a large number of tourists.

The Department will also showcase its book publications and feature an Artists’ Corner to encourage local artists, DIPR reported.
