Mokokchung, December 14 (MTNews): The Core Committee of Penli, Majakong, Lijaba Lijen and Artang, the four Wards in Mokokchung town that have been demanding the government to repair the all-important Hospital Road since August, seem to have run out of patience now.
The Core Committee on Wednesday evening made a public statement announcing their decision to impose the proposed “Total Vehicular Bandh” along the hospital road from 6:00 AM of December 16 onwards. It may be recalled here that the “Total Vehicular Bandh” was earlier proposed to be imposed from December 2 but was postponed.
The Core Committee stated that though repeated appeal had been made to the Administration and concerned department of the Government of Nagaland for immediate repair of the IMDH Road, their appeal was not answered and the road not repaired.
“The four wards had written several times through the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung to the Government of Nagaland for immediate repair of the said road,” the core committee stated.
The Core Committee said that they had earlier served an ultimatum with a deadline but decided to “postpone the indefinite bandh in good faith” based on the “words and assurance” of the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung that the Government of Nagaland had released the required amount for maintenance of the road.
Alleging failure on the part of the district administration and the department concerned to begin the road maintenance works, the Core Committee of the four wards announced that the “Total Vehicular Bandh” on the IMDH Road from Police Point and the approach road to IMDH from Luke Sasong Road junction shall be enforced from 6:00 AM of December 16 onwards, “as the 14 days ultimatum to repair the said road will expire on 15 December 2022.”
The Core Committee of the four wards also appealed to the Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, AKM, All Ward Union Mokokchung Town, MTLT, MCCI, media fraternity, different civil society organizations and the citizens of Mokokchung Town to co-operate and join hands for the benefit of all.
