In a decisive session held at the Deputy Commissioner Conference hall, the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) conducted its monthly meeting for the month of November 2023 today, arriving at a series of significant resolutions.
Among these deliberations, the DPDB approved and forwarded the application for the registration of the new society ‘Mokokchung Lotha Hoho.’ However, the ultimate determination of its registration under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 now rests in the hands of the Home Department, Kohima.
Simultaneously, the DPDB endorsed the upgradation of Government Primary School Moalenden to Government Middle School Moalenden, propelling the proposal forward to the Department of School Education. Acknowledging the DPDB’s role as a recommending body, the final seal of approval awaits approval by the DoSE board.
A significantly important proposal discussed in the DPDB meeting was the establishment of a coaching center for NPSC and NSSB candidates in Mokokchung. Reportedly, this coaching center has been planned with a budget of Rs 27 lakhs. Plans include appointing a director, discussing staff recruitment, furniture purchase, and classroom arrangements. Notably, the Agri Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) building in Mokokchung village is under consideration for repurposing it for the proposed coaching center.
During the meeting, it was disclosed that K Temjen Jamir, the Proprietor of Tir Yimyim, generously donated 500 copies of the Mokokchung Vision 2040 documentation booklets, marking 20 years of Tir Yimyim Publications.
ADC Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe, briefed members on the upcoming Mokokchung District Inter-Departmental sports meet scheduled from November 23 to 25, 2023 anticipated to be held at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex. The initiative aims to foster unity and collaboration among different departments, strengthening bonds among government employees. Sports discussed for participation include Badminton, Carom, Table Tennis, Chess, and Arm Wrestling.
Chaired by Tongpang Ozukum, the Chairman of Mokokchung DBDP and Advisor for Water Resources, the meeting also featured a brief report by the Principal of ITI Mokokchung on the Job Mela scheduled for January 2024, undertaken by the District Skill Committee.
Presentations on departmental activities were delivered by E.E PWD (NH) and the District Fishery Officer. The Chairman additionally requested the departments of Urban Development and PWD (R&B) to prepare PowerPoint presentations for the next DPDB meeting.
Meanwhile, the Wokha District Planning and Development Board held its November meeting today at DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha. Vice Chairman & DC of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS, presided over the meeting, addressing various key topics.
The Wokha DPDB meeting primarily focused on considerations for the installation of the Fifty (50) Years Golden Jubilee Monolith, commemorating the district’s formation, and a review of Aspirational Villages. It also discussed the registration of the Agro Technology Resources Centre and Services Society, Wokha, which has been recommended to the state government for approval.
Mhathung Yanthan, Wokha DPDB Chairman & Advisor Agriculture, underscored the importance of collaboration between the society and the Agriculture & Allied Department to enhance and uplift the economic status of the district.
District Planning Officer (DPO) Wokha, Y Orenbomo Lotha, offered insights into the diverse activities and programs slated for the District Formation Golden Jubilee Celebration scheduled on December 21, 2023.
During the meeting, representatives from the Forest & Environment Department, Youth Resources and Sports, DRDA, Sericulture, Economics & Statistics, and ARCS showcased their activities and outlined work programs designated for implementation in the Aspirational Villages.
