Newly inducted Advisor tells Koridang constituents not to hesitate in seeking help; announces Rs 20 lakh youth skill-development program

Newly elected Koridang MLA and Advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Daochier I Imchen, used his first major address to constituents after his induction into the state government to stress that he would represent the entire Koridang constituency, regardless of village or political affiliation.

Addressing a thanksgiving program organised by the Mangmetong Village Council on Saturday, Daochier sought to reassure residents across the constituency that his office would remain accessible to all.

“I am not an MLA for Mangmetong Village or for the BJP party alone, but for the entire Koridang constituency,” he said.

Urging people not to hesitate in approaching him for assistance, Daochier said, “Koridang leaders, councils and members of Koridang, I don’t want you to hesitate on reaching out to me when in need. Do not hesitate by thinking that since you did not vote, you can’t come to me. It is not like that. I am Koridang’s representative to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.”

He further told constituents that they were welcome to contact him on matters affecting their villages and communities.

“If it is a work that can be concluded within the village level, do not hesitate to call me. If you are coming to Kohima for some work, do not hesitate to visit me,” he said.

Outlining his approach to public service, Daochier said he did not wish to make unrealistic promises and would instead focus on initiatives that could be achieved.

Referring to the legacy of his late father, Imkong L. Imchen, he said he would continue developmental commitments associated with him while also pursuing new initiatives for the constituency.

Daochier also announced a youth skill-development initiative to be implemented under the State Planning Board’s local area planning programme, with Rs 20 lakh earmarked for the scheme.

According to him, the initiative is expected to benefit around 20 youths during the current financial year and about 40 youths over a two-year period. He said beneficiaries would be selected with equal representation from villages across the constituency and that preference would be given to genuine, practical and viable proposals.

Daochier also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for inducting him into the government and entrusting him with the portfolios of Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation.

The thanksgiving programme was attended by representatives of villages from across Koridang constituency, party workers, civil society leaders and well-wishers.
