The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) integrating into our daily lives underscores the critical need for a thorough understanding of its proper and ethical implementation. This is crucial in ensuring that the future generations can harness the power of AI productively and responsibly.
The Institute of Communication and Information Technology (ICIT) Mokokchung has emerged a key player in the “IndiaAI Mission – FutureSkills” pillar, an initiative approved by the Government of India in March 2024 to strengthen the country’s AI ecosystem, a first of its kind among Polytechnics in North East India. Under this mission, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with Intel India, has established a Data Lab at ICIT Mokokchung.
This lab aims to provide foundational Data and AI courses to students, particularly those in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. So far, ICIT Mokokchung has successfully delivered trainings in “Introduction to AI” and “AI for Agriculture” to students from diverse backgrounds, with certification issued by ICIT and Intel India. The institute plans to expand its offerings to include courses such as “Introduction to Machine learning”, “AI in Entrepreneurship” and “AI in Teaching” etc. further contributing to the development of AI skills in the region.
ICIT, Mokokchung will be conducting 2 weeks of trainingon “Introduction to AI” of its 3rd batchtocommencefrom August 18, 2025, with “Introduction to MachineLearning” to follow in September 2025.
