The International Human Rights Council (IHRC) Kohima Board has strongly condemned the capital punishment imposed on K Rülho, proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho, by NSCN-K (Khango)/GPRN. This severe measure was reportedly enacted due to a payment default demanded by the group. The Council has labeled the punishment as both “unreasonable and barbaric”, noting that such law is not directly applicable except in the rarest of rare cases under Indian criminal law.
The IHRC Kohima urged all conflicting parties to engage in dialogue and resolve the issue through peaceful negotiations. Prolonging the issue may lead to further repercussions, the council warned.
The Council also appealed to all Naga revolutionary parties to adhere to the fundamental principles of basic human rights and to respect and uphold the rights of every individual. The Council called on the competent authorities and the State Government to resolve this issue and deliver justice to the contractor and proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho according to the relevant provisions of law.
The Council also extended its supports the Angami Youth Organisation in their planned public rally on 6 August 2024.
