The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, Madhya Pradesh recently sponsored a transformative Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for 21 faculty members and research scholars from Nagaland University and Kohima Science College Jotsoma. The program was held from January 13 to January 17, 2025, at IIM Indore.

The program focused on advanced topics such as digital marketing, finance for non-finance executives, and leadership, all designed to empower educators from Nagaland without any financial burden on them.

IIM Indore’s Director, Prof Himanshu Rai, mentioned that as part of its commitment to empowering Nagaland’s academic community, IIM Indore will sponsor one participant from Nagaland every year for its Annual FDP.

“This initiative ensures continued access to high-quality academic and leadership training, providing educators from the region with the tools and resources to drive positive change in their institutions,” he said.

He added that IIM Indore will also be sending its faculty members to Nagaland in the future to conduct specialized training sessions.

Prof Rai emphasized that education is a powerful tool for uniting diverse regions and creating leaders who can innovate and drive change. This initiative reflects IIM Indore’s dedication to building strong, long-term partnerships with educational institutions in Nagaland and empowering them to lead with innovation and excellence.

The five-day FDP featured a curriculum designed to equip participants with skills and knowledge in advanced teaching methods, leadership, and research practices.

Participants learned cutting-edge practices through interactive sessions and real-world case studies, including topics like leadership, digital marketing, and finance for non-finance executives.

Dr Temjenwabang, Principal of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, expressed his gratitude for the invaluable learning experience provided by IIM Indore, highlighting how this initiative will have a lasting impact on the participants and their institutions.

He also acknowledged IIM Indore’s commitment to strengthening the educational framework in Nagaland and helping overcome the challenges faced by the region’s academic community.

Expressing joy, Prof Tokatoli Achumi, Faculty, Kohima Science College Jotsoma, said that the experience at IIM Indore has been transformative. “Participating in the FDP sponsored by IIM Indore has been the best decision I made.”

“The campus is beautiful, the infrastructure is exceptional, and the learning has given me a new perspective. The sessions were meticulously arranged and have helped me enhance my teaching methods and contribute to the growth of my institution,” Achumi said.
Nzanthung Ezung, a research scholar from Nagaland University, mentioned that coming to IIM Indore has been a great experience.

“I learned how to incorporate case studies in teaching and the significance of participant-centric learning. Sessions on enhancing communication skills have been outstanding. The networking opportunities were exceptional, and I thank IIM Indore for the program.”

Prof Rajhans Mishra, Programme Coordinator, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the academic framework of regions like Nagaland and fostering a culture of mutual learning.

As part of IIM Indore’s institutional social responsibility, this fully supported initiative helped bridge gaps in access to world-class education and provided participants with opportunities to enhance their teaching and leadership skills, an update received here said.

This FDP, specifically curated and sponsored for the academicians from Nagaland, is a part of IIM Indore’s broader vision to contribute to nation-building by bridging the educational divide between regions, it added.
