Shillong, 1 July (MTNews): In a significant move towards improving higher education and skill development, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Nagaland. The partnership aims to provide accessible and high-quality education to the students of Nagaland, fostering positive changes in skilling, capacity building, and the implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP).

The Minister of Higher Education in Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts and applauded the expertise and knowledge base of IIM Shillong. He emphasized that the partnership has the potential to revolutionize the higher education spectrum in Nagaland, benefiting students and the overall education system.

 

Under the terms of the MoU, IIM Shillong will serve as a knowledge partner, offering extensive support in research, policy development, analysis, impact studies, and the identification and recommendation of necessary interventions. The institute will act as an “in-house” consultant, providing its expertise in project development and policy formulation.

 

One of the key objectives of this collaboration is to formulate institutional development plans for state-run higher education institutions in Nagaland. By leveraging the experience and insights of IIM Shillong, these institutions can enhance their infrastructure, teaching methodologies, and overall quality of education.

 

Moreover, IIM Shillong will play a crucial role in implementing the principles and objectives of the NEP 2020 in Nagaland. This includes integrating the policy’s guidelines into the state’s education system, ensuring holistic development and improved learning outcomes for students.

 

Additionally, the collaboration aims to establish a state-of-the-art engineering college in Nagaland, with IIM Shillong providing its expertise in creating a premier educational institution that meets international standards of excellence. By incorporating best practices and robust systems, the engineering college will offer students an environment conducive to learning and innovation.
