Kohima, 11 April (MTNews): The image of the government depends on the IPR department which plays an important role in disseminating news and information to the public, said Advisor of Information & Public Relations, Soil and Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen.
Speaking at a felicitation program organized by the Department of Information & Public Relations at IPR Conference Hall, Kohima on 11 April, Imchen shared his past experiences with the Department of Information & Public Relations where he briefly was the Minister of IPR.
Imchen stated that he will try his best to ‘work something out of nothing’ and called upon the officers and staff of the department to work sincerely while stating that he is there to serve the people.
Director, Dzüvinuo Theünuo in her speech said that the department is very lucky to have such a tall and seasoned leader who is very concerned about the Department. She assured fullest cooperation of the officers and staff for the best functioning of the department. She briefed the Advisor about the structures of the department from the Directorate to the Information Centers across State and informed that the department has PROs in Delhi, Raj Bhawan and an Information Cell at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat. Theünuo also informed that the Department publishes the daily Naga News, monthly Warrior publication, yearly calendar and dairy etc.
She further stated that post-Covid pandemic, a lot of changes in the Department took place and that the Department has been regularly live streaming State-level programs and other important events. She also mentioned that as the nodal department for film and related activities, it has been playing an important role in facilitating film makers. She also said that the Department is actively engaged on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She went on to inform that the department has installed Public Address System in 11 (eleven) districts and has also set up LED displays in some districts.
The Advisor also inspected the Library at the Directorate. Commissioner & Secretary IPR, V Maria Yanthan, IAS in her address hoped that the department will prosper to a greater height under Imchen’s leadership. She thanked the officers and staff of the department for the sacrifices and services and also appealed to them to uphold the hardworking spirit despite many limitations.
Joint Director, I Simon Teila who chaired the program welcomed the Advisor and stated that the Department was very lucky to have one of the seasoned and dynamic senior leaders to captain the department of Information & Public Relation. Joint Director, Asangla Imsong proposed the vote of thanks.
