The celebration of the 6th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) and the 2nd anniversary of the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) was held at the conference hall of Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) on 7 October 2024.


Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer, in his keynote address on AB-PMJAY and CMHIS, stated that it is the largest health insurance scheme implemented in the country. He also highlighted that underprivileged families benefit greatly from it.

Takotemjen Longkumer, LDA cum BIS operator, from the CMO office, provided an overview of AB-PMJAY, explaining that the scheme offers health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year, targeting vulnerable populations, including the unemployed and economically weaker sections. He noted that thousands of lives have been impacted by the scheme in Mokokchung District. He also outlined the differences in benefits between the general category and government employees/pensioners under PM-JAY and CMHIS.

The event also included a felicitation ceremony, where S Jain, IAS, the special guest, presented an award to IMDH Mokokchung for being the best-performing hospital in the district. The top three winners of the essay competition were also awarded.The program was followed by free medical health camp and distribution of free medicines.
