Imrong Aier, who identifies himself as a freelance artist is currently working on his new comic series, ‘Only the Hunter’, published in Tapas, a South-Korean webtoon and prose publishing website.
Talking to Mokokchung Times, he said that he graduated from Fine Arts College, Guwahati and had exhibited his work once in Mokokchung Town back in 2015, which he recalled was his first and last exhibition in the town.
“I started painting and drawing at a very young age – even before I had learned to write, but Comics was what solidified my interest in the art world. I still remember finishing whole sketch books with nothing but superhero drawings in it as a kid,” he said.
Currently, his works ranges from portrait sketches to landscape painting but he hopes to improve and explore more of various other genres.
Speaking about monetizing from his works, he said that apart from uploading few of his works to his Instagram page, some of his framed works and art prints are available at Muse printers, MMC shopping complex. “I kind of lag a bit on the marketing side,” he added.
On being asked whether to pursue a career as an Artist can be possible in our society, he said that it can be possible as the society seems to be changing. “Times are changing but also it’s still a very slow process,” he said.
“I think it’s important to note that every time we look and study or buy an art work, we are contributing a small hand in fulfilling that artist’s vision.”
In a message to the readers, he quoted, “Like they say, a dead artist don’t need the support, money or the fame. Support a live one instead.”
