Independent candidate for the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency by-election, Imtiwapang Kichu, addresses the media after formally declaring his candidature at Kinunger village on March 25.

Reresentatives from Kinunger, a village of around 50 households, also made a significant public statement during the program, asserting that there would be no instances of booth capturing and that polling in the village would be conducted freely and fairly.

The villagers lauded Kichu for “properly seeking vote” in the village in a peaceful manner and for not undermining the village on account of their limited number of voters.

Campaigning under the theme “Change begins with us,” Kichu did not make any major promises or announcements during his address. Instead, he focused on the need for collective effort and cooperation among the people. “I want to see a united constituency where we move forward together, beyond our differences, with a shared purpose”.

Kichu has previously served as president of the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM) and as an executive member of the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM). He is also a founding member of the Mokokchung Town Youth Organisation. Prior to entering the electoral fray, he resigned from his post as an Inspector in the District Industries and Commerce (DIC) Mokokchung.
