It all began when a group of 18 like minded GenXers, born and raised in Salangtem Ward undertook a cleanliness and plastic free campaign in and around Mokokchung town, which led to the inception of the group ‘KABOR SALANGTEM’.

KABOR SALANGTEM, a public welfare group with no affiliations to any political groups, was started in the year 2017 with the motto “For the welfare of Salangtem in particular and Mokokchung in general.”

The term ‘Kabor’ in Ao means ‘a true friend’.

The group successfully ran an eco-friendly cloth bag distribution campaign and several other social campaigns. These initiatives were applauded by the citizens of Mokokchung and acknowledged by many. They went on to receive an invitation by the Mokokchung District Administration as resource persons in a ‘Waste Management and Plastic Free’ awareness program.
