In a significant development in the healthcare sector in Mokokchung district, a community initiated medical Sub-Centre was inaugurated on Thursday by the Chief Medical Officer of Mokokchung, Dr Kibangkumba at Satsu village.
Following the inauguration, a brief ceremonial program was held at the Satsu Village Community Hall. The Chairman of Satsu Village Council, K Tia Imchen, commenced the program by providing a brief historical overview of the village’s journey towards recognition, which was achieved in 2014. He also recounted how the proposal for a Sub-Centre was initiated in 2018, and the subsequent constitution of a construction committee leading to the momentous inauguration. The Chairman expressed profound gratitude to all the stakeholders and individuals who contributed to the realization of this project.
Dr Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer of Mokokchung, served as the guest of honor and delivered an inspiring speech during the ceremony. He expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of Imkong L Imchen, MLA and Advisor for Information and Public Relations, and Soil and Water Conservation, Nagaland. Imchen’s dedication played a pivotal role in the formation of Satsu Village and the construction of the new Sub-Centre building. Dr Kibangkumba urged the Village Council, Village Health Committee members, and the community at large to actively engage with and support the Sub-Centre and its staff to ensure timely maintenance and future upgrades.
Dr Kibangkumba also emphasized the critical role of timely immunization, Ante Natal Care for pregnant women, and the importance of preventive measures in combating diseases and illnesses. He reiterated the age-old wisdom that “prevention is always better than cure.”
The inaugural function was attended by representatives from village councils of neighboring villages, including Aliba, Kinunger, and Mangmetong, and Mangmetong Senso Telongjem, Mokokchung Town.
The inauguration of the Satsu Village Sub-Centre marks a significant milestone in the healthcare landscape of Mokokchung, reflecting the commitment of the local community and healthcare authorities to improving the well-being of the citizens.
