The Government of India has reassured citizens that energy supplies, maritime operations, and the safety of Indian nationals in West Asia remain secure, even amid ongoing regional disruptions.

In an inter-ministerial briefing today at the National Media Centre, senior officials from the Ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, External Affairs, and Information and Broadcasting shared updates on fuel availability, maritime safety, and assistance being extended to Indians in the region.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that all refineries are operating at high capacity, maintaining adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG.

Citizens are advised not to panic buy, as supply at retail outlets continues uninterrupted.

Priority sectors, including domestic PNG and CNG transport, continue to receive full supplies, while industrial and commercial consumption is being regulated at around 80 percent.

PNG expansion and LPG-to-PNG transition are being accelerated, with commercial and domestic consumers encouraged to switch.

Over 5,600 commercial consumers have already shifted in recent days.

Alternate fuels such as kerosene and coal have also been allocated to reduce pressure on LPG demand, with States and UTs coordinating distribution.

To prevent hoarding and black marketing, over 6,000 raids have been conducted and more than 11,000 LPG cylinders seized. PSU oil companies are carrying out over 2,000 surprise inspections daily. States and UTs have been instructed to conduct regular inspections, establish control rooms, and issue public advisories to ensure smooth supply.

Officials reported that 22 Indian-flagged vessels carrying 611 seafarers in the Persian Gulf are safe. Port operations in India are running smoothly, with additional storage capacity created and 24×7 monitoring of vessel movements. The DG Shipping Control Room has handled thousands of calls and emails since activation, ensuring coordination with ship owners and Indian Missions.

The Ministry of External Affairs continues to assist stranded nationals, students, and seafarers. Over 2,80,000 passengers have been repatriated since February 28. Special control rooms and helplines operate round the clock. Flight operations are gradually improving, with special non-scheduled flights from Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE helping stranded Indians return safely.

Citizens are urged to rely only on official sources, avoid rumors and panic bookings, and use digital platforms for LPG orders. Authorities have warned against fraudulent apps and phishing attempts. Energy conservation and judicious use of LPG and PNG are being strongly encouraged.

A Rs 497 crore RELIEF package has been approved under the Export Promotion Mission to support exporters affected by global supply chain disruptions. An inter-ministerial group continues to monitor logistics and coordinate facilitation measures.
