Mokokchung, August 12 (MTNews): The second day of the ongoing Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament 2022 organized by Kumlong Sports Association saw 6 matches being played with Sungkomen and Artang wards registering their berths in the semi-finals from Pool A. In Pool B, Kumlong has already booked their place in the semis while Penli and Yimyu will be vying for the semifinal spot. The semi-finals and final will be played on Saturday, August 13.
In the first match of the day, Artang team with a mixture of young and seasoned senior players were able to win the first set 25/22 but the young and energetic Sungkomen team came back stronger to win the second and third sets 16/25,20/25. The spiking power of Sungkomen dismantled the Artang team.
In the second match, Yimyu Ward went up against Marepkong Ward and dominated the match from the beginning and won the match 12/25, 5/25. The young Yimyu team full of players playing their first tournament is definitely a team to watch out for in the coming years.
The third match played between Alongmen and Mongsenbai saw a spirited Alongmen ward, playing their last match of the tournament, taking the first set 25/21 but Mongsenbai Ward were able to make a dominating comeback in the second and third sets, winning it 7/25,13/25.
The fourth match was played between Dilong and Sungkomen where a much spirited Dilong team gave a tough fight but eventually ended up losing the match 23/25,15/25. Sungkomen is definitely looking like the favorites to win the tournament.
The fifth match was played between Penli and Kumlong where Kumlong registered a comfortable 16/25, 13/25 win.
The last match of the day saw a spirited Mongsenbai Ward lose to Artang Ward. Artang won the match in straight sets 27/25, 25/21
