Mokokchung, 5 October (MTNews): The two-day international conference on environmental humanities in the Anthropocene Era, organized by the English and Geography departments of Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung on 4–5 October, concluded with a valedictory session at the FAC Conference Hall.

The organizers and partners of the two-day International Conference on Environmental Humanities in the Anthropocene Era, focusing on ecojustice and sustainability (ICAHAE), held at Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung, organized by the Department of English and the Department of Geography on October 4-5, concluded the event with a valedictory session at the FAC Conference Hall on October 5.

 

The conference was organized in collaboration with the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE) and LEMSACHENLOK, Longleng, and sponsored by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Fazl Ali College.

During the valedictory session, Dr E Benrithung Patton, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, delivered the concluding remarks. He mentioned that there is much to reflect upon regarding the conference’s themes and further emphasized that individuals and collectives can contribute to addressing the global challenges of the Anthropocene era. He summarized the conference themes and stated, “It is time to move forward in a direction that will help us work collectively towards our shared goals, achieving full sustainability, community engagement, and exploring ideas that can illuminate new paths of inquiry.”

Dr Pankaj Thapa, Freelance Academician and Researcher from Kanglung, Bhutan, also shared his observations. He praised the professionalism with which the conference was organized and stressed that conferences should not merely be academic routines but should also continue with research work and focus on how to disseminate research findings at the grassroots level.

Dr Y Nuklu Phom, Team Leader at LEMSACHENLOK, Longleng, provided insights for the way forward. He encouraged the institute to foster practical scholarship relevant to the community and to integrate traditional values into the educational system. Additionally, he suggested establishing sustainable and advanced research study centers to generate income and benefit the community.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr R Bendangtemjen, the Convenor of ICAHAE.
