Changtongya, March 8 (MTNews): International Women’s Day was celebrated at Changtongya Town Longma Watsü Süngki.

The event was organized and Facilitated by NABARD Nagaland Regional Office and facilitated by NSRLM Changtongya Block respectively.

 

The event attendees comprised of members from Watsü Telen Changtongya Town, Youth Ministry Changtongya Town Baptist Church, Chairmen from all wards and staffs of NSRLM Changtongya Block.

 

Ochijunger, NSRLM chaired the program. Imyapangba, Associate Pastor Youth CTBA invoked God’s presence. Amarjit Mangang DDM, NABARD spoke on significance of the day. He stressed that women play multiple roles and still stay as allies to men. He further lauded the women folk for being the driving force in all development sectors, and calls upon them to continue strive to ensure a sustainable tomorrow.

 

Punaluba Longkumer, Changtongya, also made the audience enlightened by elucidating on the theme, “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow: A male perspective”. He added that Women’s Day is worthy to be celebrated every day. He annotated that when a society tries to uplift, empower and develop women community or give them equal opportunity, it will never hamper or demote the power of men. Rather, with the united strength, it develops the culture and broadens our scope.

 

Anungla Aier, President, Watsü Telen Chagtongya Town spoke on the given 2022 theme. Speaking on the condition and status of Ao women, she said, “We are much privileged than others as we enjoy a lot of privileges in our society.” She depicted some good practices that we had inherited from our ancestors. She added that women must strive to be brave and look forward to venture out new pace and heights.

 

The event reminded one and all that co-existence with mutual partnership, sharing and understanding is the key towards ensuring a sustainable tomorrow.
