Kohima, 8 March (MTNews): The Kohima Law College observed International Women’s Day in its auditorium on 8 March 2024. While addressing the celebration of International Women’s Day, Assistant Professor Kezhokhoto Savi stated that this is a day of celebration belonging to all those committed to forging women’s equality. It also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality, he said.
He emphasized the importance of understanding, valuing, and seeking the inclusion of women and girls. Saying there are many ways to ensure that the needs, interests, and aspirations of women and girls are valued and included, he suggested that organizations and groups can “Inspire Inclusion” through action in areas such as forging women’s economic empowerment, recruiting, retaining, and developing diverse talent, supporting women and girls in leadership, decision-making, and even in business, and providing women and girls with access to quality education and training.
He said there are two themes for the year: the 2024 campaign theme “Inspire Inclusion” and the official theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” The official theme focuses on achieving gender equality and women’s well-being in all aspects of life, which is more crucial than ever if we want to create prosperous economies and a healthy planet. Meanwhile, the year’s campaign theme – “Inspire Inclusion” aims to inspire individuals and organizations to understand and value the inclusion of women in all aspects of society.
He said the theme encourages fostering a sense of belonging and promoting diversity and inclusion as crucial elements in achieving true gender equality.
He added that the Delhi government in its State Budget 2024-25 announced a scheme for women under which eligible non-income tax payees above 18 years will receive Rs 1000 every month. The Delhi CM described the decision as the world’s biggest step towards women’s empowerment, expected to benefit 45-50 lakh women.
