An International Workshop on Women’s Voices was organized by the Department of English, Nagaland University, in collaboration with the Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS) and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS), Germany, from November 6 to 7, 2025. Sponsored by RLS, the workshop brought together ten women each from Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. An exhibition showcasing their handicrafts and books was also held.
Faculty members and research scholars of the Department of English participated alongside prominent figures including Prof. N. Manimekalai, Prof. Nitha N., Patricia Mukhim, Monalisa Changkija, Sano Vamuzo, Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu, Renu Koyu, R. Chai, Jarjum G. Ete, Melissa Fernandes, and Neha Naqvi.
The sessions focused on women’s rights, customary laws, and long-standing gender inequalities. Participants shared narratives of resistance and solidarity while exploring legal measures and Public Interest Litigations as remedies where customary practices have failed to protect women’s rights.
